If you’ll recall, back in August, The Toa Nafasi Project participated in a campaign called Little by Little. Offered by GlobalGiving, a crowdfunding platform for grassroots charitable projects, this undertaking lasted one week and GlobalGiving matched all donations up to $50 at 60%.
At the time, Toa had been interested in the purchase of a new tent at Mnazi Primary School where classroom space has long been an issue. In 2017, we were lucky enough to have been gifted an in-kind donation of a safari tent from Al-Anver Outfitters in Arusha as a temporary solution to our problem.
However, over the years, the tent has taken a beating from the long months of blazing sun and the shorter but no less severe months of torrential rains, and we had been toying with the idea of raising money to replace it although of course, a proper classroom is what’s really needed.
Because brick and mortar is our ultimate goal, we decided to bide our time until we find a partner organization that raises funds for building and infrastructure (as Toa does not) and instead make as many repairs to our beloved tent as it could withstand. We also invested in arts and crafts materials to make classroom resources and beautify our learning environments! Check it out, and THANK YOU to our donors!!
